 CM Biren inagurates PSA Oxygen plan at District Hospital Ukhrul

UKHRUL, Aug, 021:  THE long awaited Pressure Swing Absorption Technology (PSA) Oxygen plans was finally installed at District Hospital, Ukhrul, here today. 

The  PSA Oxygen plan of 1000Lp was officially installed on Monday under 15 Finance commission of Tribal Affairs and Hills department government of Manipur by CM Biren Singh in the present of Tribal Affairs and Hill Minister Vungazing Valti, Principal secy, Health, Director Health, MLA 45 Chingai AC and DC Ukhrul and ADC chairman incharge amongst others.

With a dreadful oxygen shortage gripping the country during the second wave of covid the state government have taken up a serious initiative to prepare any eventuality by creation of PSA oxygen infrastructures in most of the hill districts and the state capital Imphal.

Once it is installed on rural hill areas  people often need not travel to cities for better health care. “If the health infrastructure in the rural government facilities is upgraded, they need not risk their lives travelling to cities in case of emergency or spend a lot of money,” CM said.

Oxygen Generators installation is paramount as it is long-term solution for public infrastructure which can save multiple lives at a time.

 “Concentrators emerged as an alternative source due to oxygen shortage during the second wave but they cannot be used at hospitals. Concentrators can support one patient for 24 - 48 hours with 30 litres per day and has to be shut for six hours but micro generators can supply oxygen to several people at a time even if there are power cuts by utilising stored oxygen with 1,000 litres per day, one medical doctor said. 

To prevent a repeat of the medical oxygen crisis faced during the second wave, the government has augmented the availability of medical oxygen to meet the projected demand to ensure that there is no oxygen shortage in the much-anticipated third wave of the pandemic the CM adds

At present district Hospital Ukhrul has 55 Oxygen cylinders learing about the actual management Chief Minister Biren has announced to give 45 more additional Cylinders for the hospital .

Besides, for higher and better quality education system in Ukhrul Biren annouched to invest  @ 60 crores towards  a lone Pettigrew college. 

Nevertheless, the CM also call upon the youths  of the district and encourage to take up sport as it will definitely help avoid drugs abuse where he mentioned that in the past years there were many talented and prominent players  from Ukhrul district.
