NEC 2nd Cane and Bamboo Training cum Production Centre inaugurates at Ukl

( Ukl is place as the 2nd NEC Cane & Bamboo Production Centre in India)

UKHRUL, July, 2,022: IN a significant development 'Cane and Bamboo Training cum Production Centre' was inaugurated today by former North Eastern Council (NEC) secretary and Ukhrul MLA Qr. Ram Muivah   (Retd.IAS) here on Saturday.

The Ukhrul Centre happens to be the second such initiative of North Eastern Council (NEC) in the whole of India where Guwahati was it's first milestone.

Dr. Shailendra Chaudhari, Managing Director, NECBDC, Burnihat, Guwahati(Assam) on his speech states that under NEC, Ministry of DONeR, Government of India the Ukhrul Cane  and Bamboo production Centre was established at the cost of Rupees 10.30 crore. And iam delighted to express that all this is taken place in reality through the genuine and keen interest of formal NEC secretary Ram Muivah who is now the Ukl MLA . He took up the proposal and done all the requisite process enthusiastically and  finally today he inaugurates the scheme for the larger interest of all the Ukhrul the director added.



It is pertinent to mentioned that Qr. Ram Muivah, Retd IAS and MLA of Ukhrul has inaugurated the very important and prestigious project “Cane and Bamboo Training-cum-Production Centre” on 2nd of July, 2022 at VVD Complex at Hungpung, Ukhrul District of Manipur  in the presence of Prof (Dr) Shailendra Chaudhari, Managing Director, North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council, Government of India, Guwahati and Smt. R. Lalrodingi, Adviser (Banking, Industries & Tourism), North Eastern Council, Ministry of DoNER, Govt. of India, Shillong and several others. The cost of the project is Rs. 10 Core 30 Lakhs funded by North Eastern Council, Ministry of DoNER, Government of India and implemented by North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council, under North Eastern Council, Government of India.

Ram Muivah said that the overall objective of the Centre is to motivate and promote the Communities, SHGs, Farmers, field functionaries, artisans and Entrepreneurs etc. and also to provide an interactive coupling between technology, economy, environment and society for speedy development of cane & bamboo processing Industries. It will also build up a substantial base for production of value added cane & bamboo products for domestic and export markets with a strong emphasis on clean, green and user friendly technology with suitable marketing network including employment generation. 



The project was initially conceived and conceptualized by Shri Ram Muivah, Retd (IAS) and his team of officers of North Eastern Council during his tenure as former Secretary North Eastern Council & Chairman, NECBDC (the then CBTC). He was instrumental in awarding the project to Ukhrul (Manipur) and also laid down the foundation of the Centre during the year 2018 states Ms. R. Lalrodingi.

The Centre is having training capacity of 30 (Thirty) persons at a time. The Centre has very good facilities like Cane and Bamboo Workshop with advanced tools & machineries, 30 bedded hostel for trainees, Vacuum-Pressure- Impregnation technique based Treatment Plant for Bamboo & Cane and also a Guest house building along with other training facilities. Volunteers for Village Development (VVD), a renowned NGO of Ukhrul District which has 50 years of history  in social upliftment of the community shall be in collaboration with NECBDC for managing the Centre.


Amongst other the program was attended by N. Somorendro Singh, WBSO & Asst. State Mission Director (NBM) Manipur,  Artex A. Shimray former NESO secretary and TNL president, Jubilate Kazingmeu, Program Director, VVD, Ukhrul Dr.Wungramthan Shingzan, Executive Director, TTA, Ukhrul. Ms. Thingreiphy Lungharwoshi president TSL, Qr. Ramnganing president TNWL,, S. Shangam DFO, Ukhrul and Shimrie Raising president TKS.
