Security Forces nabs six hardcore insurgents of ENNG and NSCN-IM in Arunachal

Sep' 10,021: IN a series of operations conducted from wee hours of 9 September till 10 September 2021, Tirap Police along with Assam Rifles apprehended six hardcore insurgents of various groups including NSCN IM & ENNG along with weapons and ammunition from Khonsa.
According to Tirap Police, based on specific intelligence report regarding presence of three hardcore insurgents in general area Khonsa, a team of Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles and representatives of Tirap police launched a joint operation to nab these hardcore insurgents reportedly involved in extortion collection, kidnapping and nefarious activities against locals in the region of Tirap District.
The joint team arrested three armed insurgents and based on information provided by them three more insurgents were apprehended. All the apprehensions led to a total recovery of six Pistol, live ammunition, Opium and extortion money.
The insurgents revealed that they had kidnapped and placed a woman, age 28, under house arrest in suspicion for passing information of underground cadres to Security Forces in Longbo village since June 2021.
In another shocking revelation of their activities, it also came to light that they were involved in kidnapping a RWD employee from his residence in Sanliam village, Tirap and ruthlessly torturing him and extorting Rs 3 lacs from him. The RWD employee was blindfolded, handcuffed and taken to jungle where he was tortured and brutally beaten while asking him to deposit an additional Rs 10 lakhs to them. They also demanded Rs 50,000 from the GPC of Sinnu village at gunpoint. The insurgents have been involved in extortion activities, kidnapping and nefarious activities against security forces in South Arunachal Pradesh, reported Tirap Police.
The proactive actions and relentless pursuit of these notorious underground cadres by Assam Rifles and Tirap Police have led to arrest of a number of cadres in Tirap District. The combined efforts of Assam Rifles and Tirap Police have led to restoration of faith of locals in security forces and restoring peace and normalcy in the regionregion the sources said.
