Japanese firm keen to offers jobs to 2000 state’s youth
IMPHAL, 29 July 2021: RENOWNED Yazaki India Private Limited, a part of Yazaki Corporation of Japan, has offered to provide around 1500-2000 jobs to youth of the state by opening a wire harnessing unit in Manipur and expressed its interest in working together with the government of Manipur.
Welcoming the offer from Yazaki India Private Limited and assuring of providing requisite land to the company for establishing a wire harnessing unit in Manipur in consultation with the chief minister, commerce and industries minister Th Biswajit told the officials of Yazaki India Private Limited that law and order situation in Manipur has significantly improved since the coming of BJP government and hills and valley have become one.
Minister Biswajit gave the assurance during a meeting through video conferencing with officials of Yazaki from his office chamber on Thursday.
During the conference, Yazaki India Private Limited managing director Prasant Nayak said that Yazaki is world’s largest wire harnessing company and the its turnover was US 17-billion-dollar last year despite COVID-19 pandemic.
The company has been taking up a joint venture with Tata group of companies in India since 1997.
The company has 11 manufacturing plants in eight states namely Maha- rashtra, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Delhi and provides jobs to more than 12,000 people in these states.
The company ensures zero pollution and zero hazards and would be able to provide jobs to around 2,000 people in Manipur, he said, adding that opening a manufacturing unit of the company in Manipur would not only enhance trade with South East Asian countries but also help in improving state’s economy.
After Prasant Nayak’s speech, minister Biswajit expressed confidence that the problem of unemployment in Manipur would reduce significantly if more entrepreneurs foray into the state.
While welcoming the offer from Yazaki India Private Limited, he noted that outsiders often dread about bad law and order in Manipur but the reality is different now.
Biswajit further said that peace has returned in Manipur since the coming of BJP government and there is no blockade and conditions of roads have improved with the coming of Trans Asian highway.
He also told Prasant Nayak that rail line would reach Imphal in the coming few years and assured of providing the land required for opening a manufacturing unit of the company in consultation with the chief minister in the state cabinet meeting.He also invited Prasant Nayak to visit Manipur, if necessary.
The video conference was attended by commissioner (textiles, commerce & industries) RK Dinesh, joint secretary Mercina Panmei, director Lourembam Bikram from the side of government of Manipur while Yazaki India Private Limited was represented by CEO PV Raju and assistant vice president Deepa Dinesh besides Prasant Nayak.It was also agreed at the end of video conference that the two sides will communicate again after 15 days.
