UNC calls 12-hour total shutdown

SENAPATI, 30,July,021: THE United Naga Council (UNC) has called a lightening 12 hours “total shut down” in all the Naga areas of Manipur from midnight of August 2 till 12 noon of August 3 to demonstrate strong support to the Framework Agreement(FA) and also in protest against its failure to materialise even after prayerfully waiting for six long years,” said UNC.
The UNC statement made available to this media said that it was doing this as a part of observing the anniversary of the signing of the “Indo-Naga Framework Agreement” (FA) which was signed on August 3, 2015 in New Delhi.
According to UNC, the schedule demonstration on August 3 will be done by strictly observing COVID-19 SOPs/guidelines. In this regard, UNC “directed tribe presidents” to ensure that the “total shutdown” is strictly enforced in their respective jurisdictions.
Meanwhile, All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has expressed appreciation on the initiative of the Parliamentary Core Committee on Naga Political isssue of Nagaland state government for facilitating a reconciliatory process for the “Naga Political Groups” (NPGs).
“We are grateful to all the Naga national political leaders for their leadership and standing firm and their willingness to hammer out differences towards an honorable and logical solution for our land and people,” the ANSAM press release said.
